The police officer who captured a man suspected of attempting to sexually assault a patient at Atlanta Medical Center this week is the same officer who in November was on a Texas parade float honoring military veterans that was hit by a train.

Holly Springs police officer Shane Ladner was at the hospital early Tuesday visiting his wife, who lost her leg in the parade incident, when he heard screams coming from the patient?s room next door, reports Atlanta Business Chronicle broadcast partner WXIA-TV.

According to police, a nurse at the hospital went around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to check on her mother, who is a patient, and discovered Noble Edler, 52, of Canton, attempting to remove her pants.

A police report says that Ladner heard the nurse?s screams and ran to the room, where he found the suspect and held him until police arrived.

The hospital has released a statement saying it has increased security at the hospital.
