Zombie apocalypse... In Victorian London

Image

It is the 20th September 1882. Queen Victorian has survived her eighth assassination attempt, the Married Women's Property Act has enabled wives to own their own property and earnings for the first time, Egypt has become a British protectorate and the great naturalist Charles Darwin has sadly died.

Oh, and the undead have taken over the East End...

So, this is a very embryonic RP idea (as in, I thought of it about five minutes ago) but the general premise is that zombies have overtaken Victorian London and have begun to spread throughout the rest of the country, with the British army, already overstretched by colonial exploits overseas, struggling to control the outbreak. The story would follow a group of people, from a mixture of social classes and occupations, as they are unexpectedly thrown together in a quest for survival and to uncover exactly what caused the undead to emerge and how they can be stopped.

I envisaged this RP to be action-packed with a smidgeon of historical social commentary, a hefty dollop of gore and more than a dash of the tongue-in-cheek. The technology would be contemporary with the mid-1880s but perhaps with a little added steampunk. Other than that, I am completely open to suggestion, so do feel free to brainstorm or suggest characters and subplots here!

As far as joining the RP goes- I tend to screen people by looking at their past posts etc. just to get a feel for their style and level of writing. Please don't be offended if I don't take you up on your offer to join- I get bored easily and it won't do either of us any favours to start an RP that quickly dries up.

Anyone up for a winning combination of sexual repression, social inequality and reanimated corpses?
